Wishlist, wantlist!

I am lusting for products right now!

Superdefense-SPF-20-Daily-DefenseI am hoping to buy the new Clinique ‘Superdefense’ moisturiser! I currently have all the other Clinique moisturisers and I am never disappointed by them. In fact, they are my ‘go to’ products when I am in need of some skin hydration. It only seems right, therefore, that I purchase their new one. It just looks amazing. Fruit ingredients, sun protection and aging skin prevention all in a nourishing creamy pot of goodness?! YES PLEASE!

BfTV9cnCUAAr-xxThe other products which I am SUPER EXCITED about are the Barry M Silk nail varnishes. The new collection is yet to come out but I will be there on their release date of  February the 12th to purchase! Barry M are just killing it at the moment- it wasn’t that long ago that I was running to the store to pick up some colours from their ‘gelly hi-shine’ range!

WATCH THIS SPACE for these up and coming reviews, and if my budget doesn’t allow it well…a girl can dream!

Clinique: All About Eyes, eye balm review!

8109935021_0a6cf46509_zHello lovelies,

So, as many of you know, I am a BIG fan of Clinique products! Recently this product has become my favourite and I’ve been using it every day so I thought I’d share the love and rave to you lot about it.

First of all, I have only recently discovered the benefits of using eye creams and eye balms. With being poorly recently and not sleeping as much as I should, my eyes are in a lot of need right now. I love this eye cream and apply it night and day to soothe my tired peepers.

I know this pot seems small but a little goes a long way! Simply get a pea sized amount and divide this between the two eyes. Dab gently under the eye and any leftover can be dabbed on the lid.

Clinique ‘All about eyes’ not only soothes and refreshes my eyes but it also offers moisture and protection from drying out. Whether it was intentional or not, I found it to be a really good primer for eye make up.

I literally cannot fault this eye product.

I cannot recommend it enough to you lovely lot!

Top 10 for £10!

top10for10

Hello everybody!

So recently I’ve been living on a tight budget but it hasn’t stopped me wanting to buy cosmetic products and all things girly!

So I thought to myself: what better time to make a blog post on make-up on a budget?!

I set myself a challenge of finding a product for each make-up category that is under £10! I have scanned the shelves of Boots to propose to you the following make-up essentials!

Let’s start with a base: concealer! We all know what I’m going to say: Collection’s ‘Illuminating Touch’ concealer is fabulous both for its moisturising texture and easy application. It has really good coverage and gives a dewy glow and is a bargain at only £3.99!!

Next! Foundation! Rimmel London has to win this with either the ‘Wake Me Up’ foundation at £8.99 (for those of you who want a dewy look) or Rimmel’s ‘Match Perfect’ for a more matte finish at £6.99.

Face powder: To set your foundation and get rid of any shine I fully recommend Rimmel’s ‘Stay Matte’ pressed powder. It has always worked well for me, is raved about by many and is an absolute steal at just £3.99!

On to eyebrows: I actually use the Miss Sporty eye shadow quad in ‘Brown Eyes’ and use the dark brown shade in the palette and brush it through my brows with a fine Mac angled liner brush. It works perfectly for me at just £2.99!

Eyeshadow: I love the Rimmel ‘Glam Eyes’ Quad eyeshadow in the colour range ‘Smokey purple’. I picked one of these up for just £6.99 and everything about it is good: the application, the colour and how long it stays on for. Can’t fault it!

Now for eyeliner: The cheapest eyeliner I have ever used was from Collection and I think it was the ‘Eye definer, lasting colour’ pen. I actually can’t find a price for it but I think it was around £3. It’s good as a spare eyeliner for in between shops but smudges easily so its better worn smudged and soft. If you want a darker colour I’d look elsewhere. I’d like to try the Bourjois ‘Khol and Contour’ pencil at a friendly price of £4.99.

Mascara: I have heard only good things about Rimmel London’s new ‘Scandaleyes Lycra Flex’ Mascara which is budget friendly at £6.99

Finally, lips: I am a huge fan of Clinique chubby sticks (I don’t even need to clarify this to my regular readers) but they are quite pricey for what they are. I think we could have a winning alternative on our hands with the Bourjois ‘Colour Boost Lip Crayons’ which are just as colourful and just as creamy and moisturising and just as easy to apply but for a lesser price of £7.99! Yes please!

There you have it!

What’s in my bag? Weekend away!

P1010516

Hello there lovelies!

I’ve been at uni for a month this weekend and it seemed a good time to pop home for a day or two! I thought I’d do a new ‘What’s in my bag?’ weekend style!

I am using the elephant bag from Evolution which is a really cute shop in Hammersmith although I do think they have shops elsewhere too so keep your eyes peeled for one in your area!

As you can see I am taking: my tickets (obviously), a couple changes of clothes, PJ’s, my purse, my phone charger, my surface (because I’m not taking my laptop), a book I need to read for uni, my phone, my house keys, my oyster card, a bottle of water for the journey and my make up bag.

What’s in my make up bag? My collection concealer, my Rimmel dual action concealer, Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation, Real Techniques foundation brush, Urbanista powder brush, 17 Pressed Face Powder, Collection eyeliner, Benefit ‘They’re Real’ mascara, Natural Collection mascara, my eyelash curlers, a Clinique chubbystick, some tissues and some bobby pins!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

September Favourites!

P1010495Hello lovelies, it’s the end of the month which can only mean one thing: I sit and tell you all of the products I have been using and loving this month and we compare it to my predictions at the beginning of the month!

First of all, as predicted, I used both my Rimmel ‘Wake me up’ foundation and my Rimmel ‘Stay matte dual action’ concealer to both conceal the dark circles and bruises of my fresher’s week late nights and mishaps and to even my skin tone. God only knows what I would have looked like without these two products!

Also as predicted, my planner came in handy! I had to keep on top of what I was doing when and (although I was still, for the most part, quite clueless, forgetful and dependent on my flat rep) I kept this in my bag or on my desk to refer back to and note down what books I needed to read for when and where I had to be every night!

I incorrectly predicted that I would be loving my black suede wedges from New Look this week BUT I wore heels once (when we went out to a racecourse) and after that my feet were too sore and cut up  to even consider wedges. I found myself bandaging up my feet and wearing flats to all other events which probably isn’t as on trend as I’d have liked but my feet couldn’t take much more!

I actually didn’t use my Rimmel Apocalips lip lacquer either; instead I used my Clinique ‘chubbystick’ in the colour ‘Chunky Cherry’ because it was easier to apply and more moisturising to my lips which (probably due to both alcohol consumption and dehydration) were very dry and sore this week!

My September favourites not predicted but well used and well-loved include: Nina Ricci perfume which I wore every single night out, my Prince London watch which helped me stay on track and on time, my Herstyler Baby Curl curling wand which I used most nights to get some volume in my hair and last but not least, Benefit’s ‘They’re Real’ mascara which I picked up samples from during Fresher’s fair and instantly loved!

It’s been a good month for make up favourites!

The Liebster Award!

Recently I was nominated for the Liebster Award by a lovely blog I follow: the beauty advice blog! You should all go and check her blog out, its one of my favourites!

liebster21

I’m really chuffed to have been nominated because I haven’t been blogging here long and it feels good to know that people actually care to read my blog regularly!

The Liebster Award is a great way to spread the word about new up and coming blogs and share them.

The Rules

  1. Each nominee must link back to the person that nominated them.
  2. Answer the 10 questions which are given to you by the nominator.
  3. Nominate 10 other bloggers you like and who have less than 200 followers.
(If you have more than 200 followers and I nominated you, please do not be offended, I went by what Reader told me)
  4. Create 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
  5. Let them know that they have been nominated by going to their blog and notifying them.

The questions ‘the beauty advice blog‘ asked me:

1. If you had to pick your favourite beauty drug store brand and your favourite premium beauty brand which would they be and why?

My favourite drugstore beauty brand has to be Rimmel without a doubt. I can’t fault them; they’re foundations, concealers, eyeshadows, mascaras AND lip products are always incredible and never disappoint me. My favourite premium beauty brand hmm…I think I’d have to say MAC because their lipsticks are amazing!

2. Which celebrity make-up look would you love to have the products to recreate?

Selena Gomez. She always looks incredible.

3. What are your top three cosmetic products?

Oh this is hard! After much deliberation I have to say: Clinique’s Redness Solutions powder, Clinique’s ‘all about the eyes’ soothing moisturiser and my Clinique chubbysticks because the colours are gorgeous but they’re good to my lips. (This turned into a Clinique fest sorry)

4. What do you love most about blogging?

I love that I can share and rate my experiences of different products with other people so that they can try something that maybe they’d not heard of or I might have helped them in some way. I love getting feedback and comments from my readers too because it makes me feel like I’m doing this for a reason- like I’m not just talking to myself haha!

5. What would your dream job be?

Easy. My dream job would be a cosmetic tester and full-time blogger. If I could do this for a living it would be perfect! Trying new products, telling you guys about them and collaborating and meeting new people would be fab. I’d also write novels alongside of course!

6. Where is your favourite place to go on holiday?

I used to go to Spain every single year for just under a month which was your typical beach holiday. Recently I went to Turkey and the weather, the activities about and the lifestyle was just perfect but I didn’t like the pushiness of shopkeepers and marketworkers as they could get a bit aggressive! Lanzarote always makes a good holiday though!

7. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

I have promised myself that I will travel as much as possible in the next few years. I’d like to go to Amsterdam because its beautiful and I’d like to visit the museums there but I also want to visit Italy for the food, the chilled out lifestyle, learn the language and go for amble strolls. I’d really really love to go to Greece because it’s gorgeous and I could have the best of both worlds: hot weather and relaxing but also a chance to visit historical religious monuments, temples and sites!

8. What is your favourite book?

I’m currently enjoying reading ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ but there will always be a special place in my heart for ‘Wuthering Heights’!

9. What’s your favourite band/singer?

I am a huge fan of ‘you me at six’ and have been since I was in my early teens but recently I have been loving ‘Bombay Bicycle Club’ and Lewis Mokler

10. What makeup look do you wear to make you feel fantastic?

Easy! Raisin coloured eyes with winged eyeliner on the upper lid, bold curled eyelashes and a bright bold lipstick to match! Feline and fabulous!

Thank you again!

Okay ladies listen up, I nominate you!

Best of Clinique- My 7 favourites!

As a girl with sensitive skin, it was only natural that I delved into the goodies of the Clinique counter! Here are my favourites!
P1010403
P1010427In the skincare category, you cannot beat the ‘Rinse off Foaming Cleanser’. It smooths onto your face in a creamy texture which foams as you work it in and washes off your face leaving such soft, moisturised, clean skin behind. I particularly like this cleanser because it deeply cleanses and smooths skin but it does it in such a gentle way.
P1010394
My two favourite Clinique moisturisers! The ‘dramatically different’ moisturiser is quite creamy and runny and is good for just everyday use where your skin needs a fair amount of moisture. For days where your skin is particularly dry, you cannot beat the ‘Moisture Surge’ product. It has a gel-like consistency which I personally love and it gives a really deep conditioning to your skin. I find that using this on dry patches will have them cleared up within days!
P1010392P1010393Moving on to skin products: ‘Redness Solutions Powder’ comes in cute packaging with a mirror, the powder section and a compartment underneath that holds the brush.  As far as free brushes go, this is very good- it’s soft and perfectly usable, despite the fact I prefer big brushes to apply powder. The colour looks very yellow but it doesn’t come out yellow on the skin; instead it evens out skin tone and diffuses redness of blushes, heat flushes or even (let’s be honest) drunken pink skin! (Yes I have tested that). It’s definitely one to carry in your bag!

P1010396

I have two favourite eye products of Clinique’s. Firstly, for dark circles or bags their ‘All About Eyes’ cream can be applied under the eye to soothe, cool and reduce puffy tired eyes and feels lush! Secondly, Clinique’s ‘Quickliner for eyes, intense’ is by far my all-time favourite eyeliner! It’s quick and easy to apply- one slick run across the eyelid not only glides easily but is enough colour because its so pigmented- as ‘intense’ as the product claims!

P1010398

Finally, lip products! (You know what I’m gonna say!) The Clinique Chubby Sticks of course! I saw these at Christmas last year and I knew that I’d love them! Lipsticks tend to dry my lips out but it’s so rare that I can find a lip balm that’s pigmented enough for colourful lips. The Chubby Sticks therefore are the perfect compromise because they are so colourful and pigmented but also quite wet and moisturising to the lips. My favourite shades are ‘Watermelon’ for nude days and ‘Chunky Cherry’ when I fancy being more adventurous!

There you have it! My top seven Clinique favourites!

Skincare for sensitive skin

We’ve all been there! At a slumber party or having a pamper session at home with a face mask. It’s all fun and lovely for a few minutes and then WHAM! Your face starts tingling and burning, you rush to the sink to wash it off and look up in the mirror to find a rather red, sore and rashy complexion…again!

Some people are born with skin a little more sensitive than others. Some people might have had a cosmetic accident or damaged their face in some way and have suffered the consequences of sensitive skin ever since. A few years ago I was at a nightclub where people had those thick ‘glowsticks’ to wave about and somebody broke a glowstick, threw it over the crowds of people in front of them and, of course, it landed on me. The chemicals and all kinds of nasty stuff that made it glow proceeded to trickle down my face, resulting in a heavy rash and sore blistered skin. I have suffered with sensitive skin ever since.

The majority of facial products, cleansers and soaps are fragranced because we girls can’t resist a fruity smell! However, you’ll find that these fragrances irritate and burn your face. After a long series of allergic reactions to various face masks and creams, I thought I would never be able to facial scrub or face mask again. And then I tried these…

P1010346

The ‘Simple’ range is fragrance free and soap free and instead use natural ingredients, all dermatologically tested so as to not harm or irritate sensitive skin. They are sent from the Gods!

As you can see, I have a reasonably extensive collection of these products.

I think it’s very important to ensure that your face is clean and so I tend to keep the ‘refreshing cleansing gel’ in my shower to use every morning and then I use the ‘Purifying cleansing lotion’ and the ‘Soothing facial toner’ with a cotton pad to wipe away everyday dirt and grime for a brighter complexion. The ‘Hydrating light moisturiser’ is absolutely divine to apply afterwards to prevent dry patches.

I much prefer the ‘kind to eyes make up remover’ to scrubbing at my eyeballs with a face wipe. A few drops on a cotton pad soak and refresh your eyes whilst wiping them clean of all traces of eye make-up. Lush!

Twice a week I use the facial scrub followed by the deep cleansing face mask (we CAN use face masks still!) and they are great for sweeping away dry skin and looking after the new skin to stay fresh faced.

Alternatively, you can also check out the Boots ‘botanical’ range which use all natural products. As you can see, mine are well-loved.

High end cosmetics companies such as Clinique are also very recommendable, dermatologically and allergy tested, fragrance free products. I purchased the ‘Dramatically Different Moisturiser’ and the ‘Foaming Cleanser’ and both were amazing! The cleanser in particular made my skin so refreshed, soft and smooth- a real treat for your face. I wouldn’t use it too regularly though as they are a little more expensive than the Simple and Botanical range which are equally just as good!

So, sensitive skinned readers, head to your local pharmacy and get yourself a skin routine that works for you!
